Shooting Victim in New York Suggests Jake's 58 Could Have Thwarted Attack
According to a lawsuit filed by shooting victim Steffan Bumpers, there were significant security lapses at Jake's 58 casino in Islandia, NY, which allegedly contributed to a near-fatal shooting incident in the parking lot last May. The casino, along with Suffolk County and Suffolk OTB, is accused of failing to provide adequate protection outside the facility.
The lawsuit, currently part of ongoing legal proceedings, highlights a failure in preventative security measures that led to the violent incident. Steffan Bumpers is suing Jake's 58 for not having enough security staff and measures in place.
The shooting took place outside the casino, with the exact location being Wyandanch, New York. The accused shooter, Nashawn Legros from Wyandanch, faces several charges, including attempted murder.
Suffolk OTB, which owns Jake's 58, and Suffolk County officials cannot comment on the pending litigation. The court documents regarding the accusation are still pending.
